Leela Rao , born in Mysore , completed her graduation in the year 1960 from Mysore Maharani's College.
After marriage to T S Nagaraja Rao who was in the engineering services with the Railways, she accompanied him to various postings in different parts of Eastern India. On deputation, she travelled to Iraq with him and lived there for 3 years.
They returned in 1983 to India and served in other postings with Chennai being the last posting.
She has two children and 3 grand children.
She has always been interested in cooking and learnt many dishes from different places.
She prefers South Indian food.
