This dish is a simple sweet dish which can be made very quickly. This is an authentic Karnataka dish. Lets learn How To Make Balehannina Sajjige (Banana Suji Halwa).
1 cup fine Suji (Rava/Semolina)
3/4th cup Banana (cut into small pieces)
3/4th cup Ghee
Few strands of saffron soaked in milk.
1/4 tsp cardamom powder
1 tbsp cashew bits
1 tbsp raisin
1 1/2 cups of milk
1 1/2 cups of water
1 cup sugar
In a Kadai (pan) , add 1tbs of ghee and roast the Rava on a medium flame until it gives out a nice aroma.
Remove it into a plate.
In the same kadai, add 1 tsp of ghee and roast the cashew and raisins. Keep aside in another vessel.
Again in the same kadai, fry the bananas in 1 tbsp ghee until it turns slightly brown and smells like heaven. Remove it and keep aside.
Now in the kadai, add the milk and water.
When it starts boiling, add a little ghee.
On a medium flame, add the Rava slowly into the pan while stirring.
Add banana to it and stir well.
In about a minute, add the sugar,cashews,raisins,cardamom powder, and soaked saffron (squeeze the saffron slightly before adding).
Stir it around 5-6 times.
